After rumours of a national final being used to determine who would represent Cyprus at Eurovision, the successor to Andrew Lambrou has been revealed! It’s been confirmed that Silia Kapsis has been internally selected to represent Cyprus in Malmö in 2024!

Silia is a 17-year-old breakout star from Australia who is of Greek and Cypriot descent. Silia may be young, but she’s achieved so much in her career so far, with Eurovision being her next challenge. She is a singer, dancer, actress and news presenter for Nick News Australia! She’s worked with world famous choreographers, was selected for the ImmaBeast Dance Company and has danced on ‘The Jennifer Hudson Show.

So far, Silia has released four singles: her debut single ‘Who am I‘, ‘No Boys Allowed‘, ‘Disco Dancer‘ and her most recent single ‘Night Out’. All three of these songs are of the pop genre and the music videos show off her dancing ability with each video having a highly choreographed routine.

Her YouTube channel doesn’t just feature her own songs but also her dances to other pop songs, including her choreography to Cardi B‘s song ‘Hot Shit‘ which has nearly 50,000 views.

In an interview with K-Zone, she says that she likes playing different sports and loves ice skating, paddle boarding and swimming.

Cyprus is no stranger to sending female-fronted pop songs sang by and Silia will be hoping to replicate the success of the likes of Eleni Foureira, Tamta and Elena Tsagrinou in 2024. She has big shoes to fill as last year’s Andrew Lambrou just missed out on a Top 10 result, finishing in 12th place with ‘Break A Broken Heart’ last year.

On January 8th, it was announced that her song will be called ‘Liar’. The song has been composed by Dimitris Kontopoulos and written by Dutch artist Elke Tiel. Dimitris is no stranger to Eurovision as he’s been responsible for multiple successful Eurovision entries such as Azerbaijan’s ‘Hold Me’ in 2013 performed by Farid Mammadov and Ukraine’s ‘Shady Lady’ sang by Ani Lorak, which both finished in 2nd place. Kelly Sweeney and Guy Groove will be Silia’s choreographers.

Liar‘ is expected to be released in late February/early March.

We wish Silia Kapsis and the Cypriot delegation the best of luck for Eurovision 2024!
