While the excitement for Eurovision 2024 in Malmรถ is building, it’s been revealed what the full Semi Final televote scores were in Eurovision 2023!
In this article, we take a deep dive at both Semi Final results, see the full breakdown of the 11th-last place results of each country, and analyse some of the interesting statistics in the voting.
What Does This Mean?
The voting system changed in 2023 and it was the public alone who would decide who would be the 10 qualifiers from each Semi-Final, this meant that it was very important for countries to impress the public and not rely on juries.
After the Grand Final, while the full scores of which countries gave what points to each country were revealed, we were only given the Top 10 and not who finished in 11th, 12th with respective countries etc. In previous years, these statistics are usually revealed alongside the full results. However, this year, for unknown reasons, they were never public knowledge, until now! These stats are all according to the the voting lists for each country as presented on the Eurovision website, and although it’s not 100% clear, the list of countries outside the Top 10 are in a different order for each countries’s televote and there are patterns between these scores and the televote results in the final.
Semi Final 1
For those who need a reminder, these were the full results of Semi Final 1:
- Finland ๐ซ๐ฎ 177
- Sweden ๐ธ๐ช 135
- Israel ๐ฎ๐ฑ 127

- Latvia ๐ฑ๐ป 34
- Ireland ๐ฎ๐ช 10
- Netherlands ๐ณ๐ฑ 7
- Azerbaijan ๐ฆ๐ฟ 4
- Malta ๐ฒ๐น 3
This time, instead of looking at the top of the board to see who won, it’s interesting to look near the bottom and see just how close things are between 12th and last position.
11th Places
11th place is one of toughest places to finish in a country’s televote as it means that although the song was liked, it only just wasn’t enough to score any points from that country. These were the nations who finished in 11th place with the most countries:
- Malta๐ฒ๐น – 5
- Netherlands๐ณ๐ฑ – 4
- Serbia๐ท๐ธ – 3
- Azerbaijan๐ฆ๐ฟ – 2
- Croatia, Ireland, Latvia and Portugal๐ญ๐ท๐ฎ๐ช๐ฑ๐ป๐ต๐น – 1
Last Places
No one wants to be the country to finish in last place but sadly these were the countries who finished in last place with most countries’ televotes in Semi Final 1:
- Ireland and Azerbaijan๐ฎ๐ช๐ฆ๐ฟ – 5
- Malta๐ฒ๐น – 3
- Latvia and Serbia๐ฑ๐ป๐ท๐ธ – 2

Full Breakdown
Here is the full breakdown of who each country’s televote ranked from 11th place to last place. If a country doesn’t appear in another’s list here, it means they did score points, e.g. in the example below Azerbaijan did give points to Sweden.
Note: The final results of the ROTW vote haven’t yet been revealed:

Notable Results from Semi Final 1
Despite the fact that Malta finished in last place overall, they didn’t receive the most last places and finished in 11th place with the most countries. They also finished 12th with four more showing that just because a song finished last doesn’t mean every country disliked the song.
Interestingly, when you look at the full breakdown, despite finishing in 12th place overall, Ireland was in most countries’ bottom two where they finished in that position in nine countries.
Latvia only just missed out on qualification by a couple points in the final scores but interestingly there was only country who ranked them 11th which was Italy, and two countries ranked them last.
Serbia was the country that took the final qualification place away from Latvia but surprisingly there were a number of countries who ranked Serbia very low and two countries gave them the least amount of televotes in that semi final, proving just how divisive that song was to Europe.
In this semi final, the public were almost in agreement with the countries they wanted to see in the final. Amazingly, seven countries scored a point from every country, but interestingly Croatia who safely qualified and went on to finish 7th in the televote alone, did get some 11th and 12th places from the public in Semi Final 1.

Notable Results of Semi Final 2
As the 11th places show, Romania or San Marino didn’t finish in the Top 10 or Top 11 of any country. the highest place Romania scored was 12th place with the Austrian televote. San Marino was the same, their highest result was 12th place thanks to the Georgian televote. Unfortunately for both countries, either one of them finished in last place with almost everyone. Only the Georgian and Romanian televote ranked another country last which was Denmark.
Although the gap between 10th and 11th was a lot, it’s interesting to note that Iceland scored within the Top 12 of every single country voting despite the 11th place finish which shows that ‘Power‘ had fans all across the continent but unfortunately the scores Iceland did get weren’t enough for them to qualify.
Another interesting statistic is despite only two countries giving points to Greece, five countries had Victor Vernicos’s ‘What They Say’ in 11th place so with many countries he just missed out.
Although Europe had similar opinions on who they thought should qualify, there were a couple of surprise results. Televote favourites Poland and Belgium didn’t have every country put them in the Top 10. As well as this, another popular song ‘Carpe Diem‘ by Joker Out for Slovenia finished in 13th place with San Marino but they used a back up jury as their televote failed.
Now the final 2023 mystery has been solved, it’s time to say goodbye to Liverpool 2023! But it won’t be long now until Eurovision 2024 season really gets going so be sure to follow us as we have lots of exciting content planned!
