Here’s your guide to Eurovision 2025 Semi Final 2!

Semi Final 1 Roundup

Semi Final 1 concluded on Tuesday night, with 10 artists qualifying to the final:

Iceland 🇮🇸 – VÆB – ‘RÓA’
Poland 🇵🇱 – Justyna Steczkowska- ‘GAJA’
Estonia 🇪🇪 – Tommy Cash – ‘Espresso Macchiato’
Ukraine 🇺🇦 – Ziferblat – ‘Bird Of Pray’
Sweden 🇸🇪 – ‘Bara Bada Bastu’

Albania 🇦🇱 – Shkodra Elektronike – ‘Zjerm’
The Netherlands 🇳🇱 – Claude – ‘C’est La Vie’
Norway 🇳🇴 – Kyle Alessandro – ‘Lighter’

That means we had to say goodbye to Slovenia, Belgium, Azerbaijan, Croatia and Cyprus meaning we won’t be seeing them compete for the Eurovision Trophy this Saturday.

After Semi Final 1, the 10 qualifying artists pulled their Final halves – as did Spain and Italy, so the Grand Final will so far be as follows:

First Half – Spain 🇪🇸, Iceland 🇮🇸, Ukraine 🇺🇦

Second Half – Albania 🇦🇱, Portugal 🇵🇹

Producers Choice – Italy 🇮🇹, Norway 🇳🇴, Sweden 🇸🇪, The Netherlands 🇳🇱, Poland 🇵🇱, San Marino 🇸🇲, Estonia 🇪🇪

The Hosts

  3. Ireland 🇮🇪: Emmy – ‘Laika Party’
  4. Latvia 🇱🇻: Tautumeitas – ‘Bur Man Laimi’
  5. Armenia 🇦🇲: PARG – ‘Survivor’
  6. Austria 🇦🇹: JJ – ‘Wasted Love’
  7. Greece 🇬🇷: Klavdia – ‘Asteromata’
  8. Lithuania 🇱🇹: Katarsis – ‘Tavo Akys’
  9. Malta 🇲🇹: Miriana Conte – ‘Serving’
  10. Georgia 🇬🇪: Mariam Shengelia – ‘Freedom’

  12. Czechia 🇨🇿: ADONXS – ‘Kiss Kiss Goodbye’
  13. Luxembourg 🇱🇺: Laura Thorn – ‘La Poupée Monte Le Son’
  14. Israel 🇮🇱: Yuval Raphael – ‘New Day Will Rise’
  15. Serbia 🇷🇸: Princ – ‘Mila’
  16. Finland 🇫🇮: Erika Vikman – ‘Ich Komme’

The three Big 5 countries that vote in Semi Final 2 will be performing for the first time in full during the live semi-final, between the competing semi finalists. The order is as follows…

The UK’s Remember Monday will perform ‘What The Hell Just Happened?’ after Austria, and before Greece.

France’s Louane will perform ‘Maman’ between Georgia and Denmark.

Germany will be on between Israel and Serbia. They’re represented by Abor & Tynna with ‘Baller’.

The running order for the show is as follows:

The Favourites

Only 10 countries will qualify for the final, meaning 6 countries will miss out on performing their entries again. The current favourites to qualify are:

Finland 🇫🇮: Erika Vikman – ‘Ich Komme’

Meet Erika Vikman – an outside favourite to win the show, but not one to count out. Continuing Finland’s current status as one to look out for in the contest, Erika’s song ‘Ich Komme’ is a liberating and empowering anthem about female sexual pleasure – one of two songs in this semi final which are a little more risqué in tone. Erika’s performance however is a complete spectacle, and one that could take us to Finland in 2026.

Austria 🇦🇹: JJ – ‘Wasted Love’

It’s been 10 years since the contest took place in Vienna, and it seems like Austria want it back. JJ’s ‘Wasted Love’ is a dramatic 3-minute journey of pop, techno and opera – featuring some absolutely incredible vocals to say the least. The entire performance takes place in black & white, and is vying for the top spot with the jury – and overall.

Malta 🇲🇹: Miriana Conte – ‘Serving’

Whilst not necessarily a contender for the trophy, Malta have made waves this year with their entry ‘Serving’ by Miriana Conte. Originally titled ‘Kant’, Malta had to change the song to remove the title and phrase ‘Serving Kant’, due to its similarity to a specific phrase in English, despite the word ‘Kant’ meaning ‘singing’ in Maltese. This didn’t deter Miriana however – she came back even stronger with ‘Seeving’, and despite Malta’s historic struggle with the televote we feel this will be one to watch in Semi 2.

Australia 🇦🇺: GoJo – ‘Milkshake Man’

Australia are the second of the risqué entries in this semi final, with GoJo’s ‘Milkshake Man’. GoJo, wrote, produced and performs the song himself – the staging featuring a huge blender and a costume change to get Semi Final 2 off to a flying start. They didn’t qualify in 2024, but it seems like their path to the final is relatively smooth this time around – bringing the Aussies back to Saturday’s show for the first time since 2023.

The Voting

Alongside the 16 competing countries voting, 3 of the Big 5 (plus the host) will also vote – these are France, Italy and Spain.

This year the voting will remain 100% televote only, with the ‘Rest Of The World’ vote returning. Countries who aren’t competing in the contest can use this to vote for their own favourites in the contest at a cost of €0.99. More information on this can be found at eurovision.tv.

There is however an important change to the way qualifiers are announced. Unlike the previous way, where all countries sat to find out if they’re through to the final, the producers have implemented a new system which is as follows: 3 countries will be highlighted and shown on a split screen – one will make it through, but the others will still be in contention. Countries can be shown in this split screen more than once, but no more than 3 times to ensure fairness. When we have 9 qualifiers, the system will revert to the old-way for the final 6 countries â€“ one country of these 6 remaining nations will make it to the final.

The Intervals

2020 Eurovision Reflection

The interval will feature Eurovision 2020 artists (and 2021 returnees) The Roop, Gjon’s Tears, Destiny and Efendi – they’ll discuss the cancellation of the contest before appearing to sing their respective entries that never made the stage from 2020.

So that’s Semi Final 2 covered! There’s only one thing left to say…
