Australia have officially announced their artist and song for Eurovision 2025, with Go-Jo heading to Basel with ‘Milkshake Man’.
With Australia having a relatively split start to the 2020s in Eurovision in terms of their results (NQ in 2021, 15th in 2022, 9th in 2023, NQ in 2024), they’ll be hoping Go-Jo is what brings them back to the final.
Let’s find out more about him…
Who Is Go-Jo?
Go-Jo is the stage name of Marty Zambotto, who was born in Manjimuo, Western Australia in 1995. Growing up off-grid allowed him to develop and explore his unique talent and interests, which only blossomed when he moved to Perth on a football scholarship. At age 13 he got his first guitar, and at 16 purchased his first Digital Audio Workstation – spending the early years of his career songwriting and producing music for other artists before taking the leap to launch his own solo career.
Career So Far
Go-Jo first hit the scene in 2016 with the song ‘Nobody Like You’ featuring Emma Carn. After a couple of solo releases and collaborations leading up to the 2020s, he took to social media, focusing on building his online presence to promote his music. Honing in on an indie-pop sound with elements of folk, Go-Jo broke through to the mainstream with the single ‘Mrs Hollywood’, released in 2023. Currently sitting at 54 million streams (his most popular song to date), this is the song that really saw Go-Jo take off online thanks to his public promotional tactics in his TikTok’s and Reels. His most popular video see’s him invite people to create their own guitar solo to the song – amassing 50 million views on TikTok and 8 million on Instagram. Go-Jo gained a strong fanbase off the back of ‘Mrs Hollywood’ – currently having over 630,000 followers on TikTok and 350,000 on Instagram. He was nominated for music artist of the year at the 2023 TikTok awards, and headed out on a tour of Australia that same year.
2024 saw Go-Jo embark on a European tour, also playing shows in Australia and New Zealand and appearing at festivals across the world. His latest release ‘Cry About’ hit streaming platforms in September, and he’s currently teasing a new song called ‘Supersonic’ – although this isn’t his Eurovision entry…
Eurovision 2025
On February 25th 2025, Australia, like they have done in recent years, revealed their entry via the Eurovision YouTube channel. Called ‘Milkshake Man’, it’s a big step away from Go-Jo’s usual musical output – and is clearly going for the support of the televote.
At Eurovision 2025, Australia will perform in the first half of Semi Final 2 on May 15th 2025.
2025 marks a decade in Eurovision for Australia – initially invited to join for the 60th anniversary in 2015, they haven’t yet managed to win (although they’ve come close, notably placing 2nd in 2016). Could Go-Jo be their answer?
We wish Go-Jo & Australia the best of luck in Basel!
