Yesterday’s covers night was the most watched fourth night of Sanremo since ratings began in 1987, with 12 million viewers. And with such a fun packed show, with everything ranging from tears to laughs, it’s no wonder. Of course, despite not singing their competing entries, the artists were voted upon by the press jury, radio jury, and televote, and last night’s score will count overall.
At the end of the night, the top five was presented:
Alfa‘s touching rendition of ‘Sogna ragazzo sogna‘ with Roberto Vecchioni spanning generations placed 5th, Ghali‘s personal ‘Italiano vero‘ medley featuring Arabic with Ratchopper placed 4th, Annalisa‘s incredible vocals on ‘Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)‘ with La Rappresentante Di Lista and Coro Artemia earned 3rd, Angelina Mango‘s emotional performance of her late father’s ‘La rondine‘ with Quartetto D’Archi Orchestra Di Roma finished 2nd, and Geolier‘s modern ‘Strade‘ medley with Guè, Gigi D’Alessio, and Luchè topped the result, albeit controversially.
With this being the first vote to include all three voting groups, we can start to paint a clearer picture now of what to expect from results tonight. Although other artists still do have chances, it’s starting to look like a two horse race between Geolier and Angelina Mango, the former with a very strong televote, and the latter with good scores across the board. Of course, anything can still change.

And with it being Amadeus’ last show after five years of being the host and artistic director, we can expect a great night to end on. Let’s get into what you can expect.

Special guests
Tonight’s show will be co-hosted by Fiorello, Amadeus’ iconic hosting partner over the years. Two time Eurovision competitor (1st in 1964 with ‘Non ho l’étà ‘, and 2nd in 1974 with ‘Sì‘), and Italy’s first Eurovision winner Gigliola Cinquetti will perform ‘Non ho l’étà ’ to celebrate its 60 year anniversary, and Luca Argentero will appear to promote the new season of the series Doc – Nelle tue mani. Ballet dancer Roberto Bolle will also make an appearance. Tedua will perform ‘Red Light‘ on the Costa Smeralda cruise ship, and Tananai will perform his 5th placing Sanremo 2023 entry ‘Tango‘ on the Suzuki Stage in Piazza Colombo.
Voting
So far in each show, only the top five has been made public. That all changes tonight. At the beginning of the show, a full 1st-30th ranking made up of every vote made so far will be presented. During the show, the televote only will be able to vote for their favourite, and at the end of the performances, every vote across each night will once again be combined to create an average, and therefore a definite 6th-30th ranking. The top five artists at this point will advance to the superfinal. During which, they will perform again, and on a blank slate, everyone will vote again. The radio and press juries will account for 33% each, and the televote 34%. After this, the winner will be declared. In tomorrow’s press conference, scheduled for 12:00 CET, we will find out definitively if the winner accepts the invitation to represent Italy in Eurovision 2024.
