Back in January Greece hosted their national final Ethnikós Telikós 2025, with Klavdia coming out on top with her entry ‘Asteromata’.
Read on to find out more about her and her song for Eurovision 2025….
Who Is Klavdia?
Klavdia Papadopoulu, known just as Klavdia, was born in August 2022 in Aspropyrgos, Greece. No stranger to competitions, she first competed in the fifth season of Greece’s Got Talent in 2017, and a year later auditioned for The Voice Greece – mentored by former Eurovision winner Helena Paparizou. She soon signed with Panik Records and Arcade Music, and in 2022 applied to represent Greece in Eurovision 2023 – ERT choosing to send Victor Vernicos instead.
In 2023 she released the platinum selling single ‘Haramata’, which was included in her self-titled EP in 2024.
Ethnikós Telikós 2025
Announced as one of the 12 artists taking part in Greece’s new national final, Klavdia was a huge favourite to win the show with her song ‘Asteromata’. Klavdia, who is of Pontic descent, explained in an interview to ERT that her song is a tribute to those who have been displaced and the struggles of refugees, and is about people who have had to uproot their lives, and have lost land and loved ones. Her comments also clarified that it wasn’t about any specific event, after controversy in Türkiye that the entry was a direct reference to the Pontic genocide.
Performing 5th, her biggest competition came from pop star Evangelia with the song ‘Vale’ – and it was a close race until the very end. ‘Asteromata’ received 12 points from the Greek jury, 8 points from the international jury and 24 points from the public for a total of 44 points overall. ‘Vale’ recieved 10 points from the Greek jury, 12 points from the international jury and 20 points from the public for a total of 42 points overall. Klavdia was therefore declared the winner of Ethnikós Telikós 2025, and Greece’s entrant for Eurovision 2025.
Eurovision 2025
At Eurovision 2025, Greece will perform 7th, after the UK’s ‘What The Hell Just Happened?’ (showcase performance) and Lithuania’s ‘Tavo Akys’ in Semi Final 2 on May 15th 2025.
We wish Greece & Klavdia the best of luck in Eurovision 2025!
