It’s official! The United Kingdom will be sending country-pop girl group Remember Monday to Eurovision 2025, as confirmed by the BBC on March 7th 2025.
The trio will be heading to Basel in May, following in Olly Alexander’s footsteps – hoping to do a little better than his 18th place result.
So, let’s find out more about the UK’s 2025 hopefuls…
Who Are Remember Monday?
Remember Monday are a group made up of Holly Anne Hull, Lauren Byrne and Charlotte Steele. They met at sixth form in Farnborough in 2012, and were originally called Houston – changing their name to Remember Monday to avoid clashing with other artists with similar name, and because Monday’s are the day the girls put aside to spend time together – whether that’s making music or simply chilling out.
Career So Far
They started releasing music in 2018, and in 2019 appeared on The Voice UK – joining Jennifer Hudson’s team – reaching the knockout stages of the competition.
Not long after, they released their debut single ‘Find My Way’, and in 2023 they revealed their EP ‘Hysterical Women’. That same year, Remember Monday revealed that thanks to their success, they were able to quit their jobs and focus on the band as a full time career – Holly and Charlotte previously working as theatre school teachers. Outside of their music, they’ve starred in musical productions – most notably, Lauren in SIX: The Musical, and Holly in Les Misérables.
The girls released their second EP ‘Crazy Anyway’ in 2024, and also headed out on a UK tour titled ‘We Cried, We Laughed, We Left’.
The Rumour Mill
In early 2025, UK tabloids reported that Remember Monday had been selected as the UK’s artist for Eurovision 2025, following weeks of speculation (including a potential reveal on The Traitors final). A few days later, the BBC denied The Traitors rumour – but kept tight lipped on the name or song of the artist. In an interview with The Euro Trip Podcast in February, Head of Delegation Andrew Cartmell and member of this years team David May – who was Sam Ryder’s manager – spoke of this years release plans:
We are now early February, we had the song a few weeks ago. But like any song you’re looking to still work on it, improve it, develop it so the song and the artist have not been announced and everyone knows yet because we just want to make sure we have everything in place. You don’t want to announce or launch without everything there so we’re just getting everything into the best place we can for the announcement.
In February, BBC Radio 1 presenters Nat O’Leary and Vicky Hawkesworth mentioned the girls were representing the UK, but again – no official announcement followed.
At the beginning of March, and with silence still from the BBC and the girls themselves regarding Eurovision, Remember Monday were mentioned – and later removed – from the Radio Times’ listing for the BBC broadcast of Het Grote Songfestivalfeest, with the BBC having to come out and say that the listing was not created by them. A couple of days later, a mysterious clip appeared on TikTok – claiming to be the comeback single of Little Mix. Quickly, their fans pointed out that the trio had gone on a hiatus in 2022 – with all the girls now focusing on their solo music. The voices sounded a lot like Remember Monday, and a day later items with the songs title ‘What The Hell Just Happened?’ appeared on their Spotify Merch store, swiftly being removed after fans noticed and shared the information online. Finally, on March 6th 2025, Scott Mills announced that the song and artist would be revealed on March 7th – which did in fact turn out to be Remember Monday with ‘What The Hell Just Happened?’
Eurovision 2025
As a member of the Big 5, the United Kingdom will compete in the final on May 17th 2025. You can however catch their first performance during the second semi final, on May 15th 2025.
