Saturday 15th February will see Lithuania select their representative for the 2025 Eurovision Song Contest. After five heats, 10 acts were selected by a combination of jury and televote to participate in the final of Eurovizija.LT. However, at the end of Heat 5, LRT announced that two wildcard acts would join the finalists, meaning 12 artists will actually compete in the final. This means that Black Biceps and Liepa Mondeikaite get another chance to impress the jury and the Lithuanian voting public.
Let’s take a look at who the current favourites are to head to Basel in May.
Katarsis – Tavo akys
The current bookies’ favourite to head to Eurovision are Lithuanian four-piece band Katarsis. Although their particular brand of alternative rock is not the type of thing we normally see in a Lithuanian national final, or indeed at Eurovision, Katarsis wowed jurors and televoters alike with their intense performance of ‘Tavo akys’ (‘Your Eyes’). They achieved 12 points with both the jury and televote, making them one of only three acts across all five heats to do so. Will we be seeing them in Basel? You can check out their performance below:
Lion Ceccah – DrobÄ—
Having previously competed in three Lithuanian national finals under the name Alen Chicco, Lion Ceccah took on a new name in Heat 5 last week and it’s clear that this change could be the start of something big. Lion’s performance of ‘DrobÄ—’ (‘Canvas’) earned him maximum points from both the jury and televote, an accolade only shared with Katarsis and Anyanya (who performed in Heat 1). A deeply personal song about the trauma experienced by Lion and those close to him, could this be the one to go all the way? You can check out ‘DrobÄ—’ below:
Liepa – Ar mylÄ—tum?
She might not have been their first choice to perform in the final but since being picked as a wildcard act, Liepa has crept up to third place in the odds to win! Having previously competed in Lithuanian national finals in 2012 and 2015, Liepa took a long break before returning with ‘Ar mylÄ—tum?’ The singer has said this may be her last attempt at representing Lithuania at Eurovision so will she finally get the chance? You can watch her performance below:
Black Biceps – ‘Visaip man reik’
Clearly the wildcard entries were a good choice as now Black Biceps are fourth in the odds, just narrowly ahead of Petunija with her song ‘Ä® saldumÄ…’ (‘To Sweetness’). When they performed ‘Visaip man reik’ (‘Anyway, I Need It’) in Heat 3, Black Biceps placed third with the jurors which brought them down to third place overall. However, they achieved maximum points with televoters and received the most individual televotes of any act performing in the five heats! If Black Biceps make it to the superfinal, could their popularity with viewers mean we see them at Eurovision? You can check out their performance below:
