Last year’s Sanremo music festival saw the victory of Angelina Mango with her song ‘La noia‘, which went on to earn an impressive 7th place in Eurovision 2024. Italy is now on a seven year long run of top ten finishes, and will no doubt be looking to continue that into year eight.
Notably, former host and artistic director Amadeus left his post after five years on the job, and the position has now been filled by former head of the contest Carlo Conti. During his previous 2015-17 reign, he achieved 3rd, 16th, and 6th in the Eurovision Song Contest respectively.
All eyes are now on Italy to see if they can once again bring a good result come May in Basel. Let’s take a look at the competing artists hoping to get there. The list also includes former Eurovision participants, Sanremo winners, and even familiar faces from Una Voce Per San Marino. But could there be anyone capable of lifting the trophy this year?
