Some more National Final news has been made public! On 6th November 2023, the Portuguese Eurovision Song Contest broadcaster Rádio e Televisão de Portugal (RTP) announced the composers that have written the songs for their Eurovision 2024 National Final – Festival da Canção. There are 20 composers for the contest, 14 of these were chosen by direct invitation from the broadcaster, and the final 6 are from the 809 entries received through open submission. This is the highest number of open submissions that Portugal has ever had! These composers are:

João Couto (Open submission)
LEFT. (Open submission)

As always with tradition in Portugal, the composers are made public before we know the artists that will actually take to the stage. The songs and artists are likely to be revealed in January time, and the National Final itself is likely to be held in March 2024.
In 2023, 16 out of the 20 composers ended up being the artists taking part in Festival da Canção, so today still gives us a pretty good idea of what to expect in January.
Which one of these composers do you think has the most potential to be the Eurovision 2024 song writer for Portugal? Let us know in the comments!
