She won Eurosong back in February, and now Brooke heads off to Turin to represent Ireland at Eurovision 2022 with her song ‘That’s Rich‘!

Who Is Brooke Scullion?
Brooke Scullion was born in Bellaghy, a village in County Derry in Northern Ireland on March 31st 1999. She’s always had a passion for performing – when at school, Brooke would take part in local productions and talent shows. Prior to her career in music, Brooke worked as an Estate Agent.
Early Career
In 2020, Brooke auditioned for The Voice UK performing the Lewis Capaldi track “Bruises“. She got all 4 coaches to turn for her, picking Meghan Trainor as her mentor. She made it all the way to the final, where she finished in the podium position of 3rd place.
After the voice, Brooke released her debut single “Attention“, which became a popular radio hit in her native of Northern Ireland. She also was named as “One To Watch” by BBC Introducing, a platform that is created to mentor and promote upcoming artists and has been behind some big names such as Ed Sheeran, Lewis Capaldi and the UK’s 2014 Eurovision artist Molly.
Eurosong 2022
Brooke was revealed as one of the 6 artists taking part in Ireland’s returning national final Eurosong 2022 between January 17th-January 21st 2022. The show took place on February 4th 2022 during The Late Late Show, where Brooke performed last, after Rachel Goode’s ‘I’m Loving Me’.
Brooke won both the televote and international jury vote but was however placed 5th in the studio jury vote, meaning she won by just 2 points over ‘Yeah We’re Gonna Get Out Of It’ by Miles Graham. Fans in both Ireland and across Europe were happy with the selection, as Brooke presented Ireland with an opportunity to bring something new and modern to Eurovision 2022.
How Well Will “That’s Rich” Do at Eurovision?
At Eurovision, Ireland will perform before “Circles” by Andrea from North Macedonia and after ‘Ela‘ by Cypus’ Andromache. As the only true upbeat song of the three, Brooke has the opportunity to impress viewers with her performance and stand out from the more low-key entries that surround it. Brooke has proven in both her national final and throughout the pre-parties that she has an abundance of confidence when she performs, and her personality shines through when she’s on stage, helping to create a connection with the viewers at home.
Should Brooke qualify, she’ll be the first Irish entry in the final since Ryan O’Shaughnessy’s ‘Together’ back in 2018, so Irish fans will be hoping to see her getting through Semi-Final 2. Despite being in what’s dubbed the ‘toughest’ of the two semis this year, Ireland has the added bonus of the UK voting in this semi, who historically give Ireland points when they’re able to, which could boost Brooke’s score.
