It’s here – the final of Melodifestivalen 2022!
For 6 weeks, we’ve seen 28 acts from across Sweden take to the stage to try and impress viewers at home, and now only 12 remain in the contest to see who will win the ticket to Turin.

On Monday, March 7th, SVT revealed the running order for the final:
1. Klara Hammarström – ‘Run To The Hills’
2. Theoz – ‘Som du vill’
3. Anna Bergendahl – ‘Higher Power’
4. John Lundvik – ‘Änglavakt’
5. Tone Sekelius – ‘My Way’
6. Anders Bagge – ‘Bigger Than The Universe’
7. Robin Bengtsson – ‘ ‘Innocent Love’
8. Faith Kakembo – ‘Freedom’
9. LIAMOO – ‘Bluffin’
10. Cornelia Jakobs – ‘Hold Me Closer’
11. Cazzi Opeia – ‘I Can’t Get Enough’
12. Medina – ‘In i dimman’
As always, there are certain songs that are being tipped as potential contest winners. Here are the ones looking the most likely to take the trophy.
Anders Bagge – ‘Bigger Than The Universe’
Anders Bagge was not on anyone’s radar going into Melodifestivalen. Only picking up the courage to sing on TV last year after years of being a judge on Idol, he now looks to be one of the most likely contestants in Melfest that could be heading to Turin. He is beloved in Sweden – a national treasure you could say – and is predicted to have won Heat 3 by a landslide. With Swedish viewers predicting a big televote score coming his way, will anything stop ‘Bigger Than The Universe’ from becoming the Swedish Eurovision entry? There’s not long to go until we find out.

Klara Hammarström – ‘Run To The Hills’
Momentum for Klara Hammarström has always been high, and heading into the final she’s been gaining the most streams of any contestant on ‘Run To The Hills’ daily. With this being her third Melfest in a row, it may really be a case of third time lucky. She made it to the final for the first time directly, after losing out in the heats in 2020 and coming 6th in the final through Andra Chansen in 2021. Klara may be running to the hills, be she could be running to Italy too if things go her way this Saturday.

LIAMOO – ‘Bluffin’
LIAMOO is back for his third Melfest final, and this time he could be declared the winner with ‘Bluffin’. He may not be as high in the odds as Klara, Anders or Cornelia, but his performance is classic ‘Sweden at Eurovision’. A strong vocal and stage show could work in his favour. He’s added dancers for the final, which could elevate an already great performance. Could this be his year? If it is, fellow finalists Medina will be happy – they wrote his song.

Cornelia Jakobs – ‘Hold Me Closer’
In the last 6 weeks, Cornelia Jakobs has found herself at the heart of Melodifestivalen, and at the top of the odds. A previous member of Love Generation, she now looks to have more success in the competition as a solo artist. ‘Hold Me Closer’ is something new for a potential Melodifestivalen winner in the last 10 years – an authentic, self-written song that is performed with great power and emotion. She’s captured not only Sweden, but also international viewers with it, and is even being called a potential winner of Eurovision by some. We’ll have to see if she wins Melodifestivalen first, but the stars seem to be aligning for a potential 7th win for Sweden in the main contest if Cornelia goes to Turin.

In Melodifestivalen, you can never really count any song out. Despite these four songs being the expected successors to ‘Voices’ by Tusse, there are 8 other songs to consider. Could Theoz’s fanbase push ‘Som Du Vill’ to the top? Will Anna Bergendahl, Robin Bengtsson or John Lundvik get another taste of glory in the contest again like in 2010, 2017 and 2019? Are Medina about to send Sweden’s first native language entry in the 21st century to Eurovision with ‘In i dimman’? We’ll have to wait and find out on Saturday night.
The winner will be decided by a combined vote of international juries and televote. It’s set to be an exciting night of Swedish music, and you can watch it live at 20:00 CET/19:00 GMT here: SVT
